With school closures on the horizon, UWNEMN shares in the communities’ concern for our food-insecure children. We must ensure children who rely on school for meals, including Buddy Backpacks, receive the food they need.
We have been in communication with all our local schools, and all schools have a plan to ensure their cafeterias continue to prepare and distribute meals to students while schools are closed. All children enrolled in UWNEMN's Buddy Backpacks program will receive enough weekend meal kits to last them through the recently announced school closure.
We are working with schools to determine the best way to distribute Buddy Backpacks to children should schools remain closed longer.
