The United Way of NE MN Forever Fund was created in 1998 through the generosity of Katherine “Katie” Ware, a long time resident of Virginia, MN, who left our organization a $411,000 gift upon her passing.  To make the most meaningful impact with her gift, an endowment (Forever Fund) was created to help strengthen families and care for our own in a more permanent way.

All gifts to the endowment will remain intact “forever” with the earnings and interest offsetting all of the administration and fundraising costs of the organization.  This would allow every dollar contributed in the annual campaign to go directly to United Way partner agencies.  Our Forever Fund is housed in the St. Paul and Minnesota Foundation. To date the current endowment value is $1,360,000.
