United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is proud to support families, individuals, and agencies in Koochiching County and Lake of the Woods County.
All work in Koochiching County is supported directly by donations made by folks who live and work in Koochiching and Lake of the Woods Counties. When you Give Where You Live, your donations stay local.
Buddy Backpacks - 183 Koochiching County children are enrolled in this program and receive a backpack full of nutritious, child-friendly and non-perishable food each Friday or holiday break before they head home from school. The Broncos Football Team is raising money for UWNEMN's Buddy Backpacks program in Koochiching County this season. Click HERE to support their t-shirt sales fundraiser!
Comforts of Home - Select Bed Bath & Beyond stores and one Walmart store donate products throughout the year to UWNEMN, and these products are available to Koochiching County and Lake of the Woods County families and individuals who have experienced housing crises at no-cost with an agency referral. Last two year, two Koochiching County families experienced house fires and utilized this program.
Imagination Library - Dolly Parton's school readiness program is locally sponsored by UWNEMN and delivers monthly age appropriate books to children birth to age five for FREE! There are no income guidelines to this program. Sign your child up today!
Smiles United - Through a partnership between UWNEMN and Childrens Dental Services, under-insured and uninsured Koochiching County residents can receive free or reduced cost teeth cleaning, fluoride treatments, sealants, oral health, and nutritional education. The service is provided by a mobile dental unit that brings the equipment on-site with a local hygienist and assistant. The program is in need of a Koochiching County community site. United for Veterans - Financial assistance is available for Koochiching County and Lake of the Woods County veterans in need that are dealing with financial set backs, UWNEMN has an application for funding that is available to veterans in need. Click HERE to view application.
211- United Way has collaborated with other non-profits, government, business people, and professionals around Minnesota to bring 211, a single call that provides callers with one-stop vital information.

A strong community depends on having support systems in place to respond to disasters and help people overcome hard times to get back on their feet. United Way of Northeastern Minnesota is there to stabilize our communities through access to emergency food, safe shelter, housing services and disaster relief. We provide support to those experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault and work to reduce it. We help people become self-sufficient, which means stronger communities for all of us.

UWNEMN has been made aware of a Facebook scam in which hackers implicate that United Way will give people money in return for a donation. No one from United Way will ever contact you, unsolicited, with a grant offer and will never request a donation in order to provide you financial assistance.
COVID-19 funding is no longer available through United Way of Northeastern Minnesota. The only financial assistance UWNEMN can currently provide to individuals is veterans living/working in UWNEMN's service area. Click here to learn more.
