Read for the Record

What is Read for the Record?

UWNEMN is participating in Jumpstart's Read for the Record in 2017!  This is the world's largest shared reading experience - bringing together over 2 million people each year in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes across the US.  This annual campaign was launched over a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for EVERY child.  UWNEMN will bring volunteers into local classrooms to read to children on October 26th - making our local participation part of the record-breaking total involved!

We Need Volunteers!

This year, we are partnering with the Greenhaven and Washington Elementary Schools in Hibbing for Read for the Record.  We need volunteers to sign up and read the book, Quackers by Liz Wong, to children in the classroom on Thursday, October 26th.  Please click HERE to sign up to volunteer.

Quackers is a delightful story about a kitten who grows up believing he's a duck, until the day he meets another kitten.  What follows is a sweet tale about understanding, acceptance, and learning it's OK to be whoever you want to be.
