Donations made to United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN) over the past year will now support 28 nonprofit agencies, 14 libraries with summer reading programs, 11 local food shelves, and UWNEMN’s eight direct service programs.
United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN) has added four new sites to its free summer lunch program, Meet Up and Chow Down, for a total of 13 locations where local children can access food while school is out of session.

Why did you choose to join the UWNEMN board originally? After participating in the fund distribution process and being able to hear first-hand from organizations that were supported by United Way and its donors, I knew that I wanted to support UWNEMN beyond my donation.
Local veterans and their family members enjoyed a winter weekend at Grand Ely Lodge full of outdoor fun, meaningful conversation, and creating new connections at United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN)’s first-ever United for Veterans Winter Family Retreat. More than 75 attendees enjoyed snowshoeing, ice fishing, pallet painting, and group team building challenges.

United Way of Northeastern Minnesota has one of the largest geographical service areas of all United Ways in the nation, serving individuals from just north of Duluth to the Canadian border.
The organization has taken many steps to thrive. After opening an endowment fund with a large gift from a donor, the organization has cultivated its board, focused on planned giving strategies, cultivated younger donors, and reinvested the earnings income.
United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN) is once again sending financial support to every food shelf in the region.
