Volunteer for Buddy Backpacks

In the face of COVID-19-related school closures, UWNEMN is dedicated to ensuring that children who rely on Buddy Backpacks continue to receive the food they need. All children enrolled in the program have received enough weekend meal kits to last them through the recently announced school closure. We are working with schools to determine the best way to distribute Buddy Backpacks should schools remain closed longer. Due to social distancing guidelines, and in an effort to keep everyone in the community as healthy and safe as possible, we are unable to host volunteer packing sessions at this time. Instead, UWNEMN staff will be packing meal kits for the foreseeable future. If you are interested in donating to support this program, please click here.

United Way of Northeastern Minnesota needs your help to pack Buddy Backpack meal kits!

Below is a list of scheduled sessions.  Click the dates below to register.  Each session has 60 volunteer spots available.  Once they are full, you can be added to a waiting list.  Volunteers for Buddy Backpacks must be 18 or older.

All sessions will take place at United Way of Northeastern Minnesota's office at 608 East Drive in Chisholm.
