Iron Range non-profits invited to apply for United Way funding

United Way of Northeastern Minnesota (UWNEMN)’s annual fundraising campaign is underway, and the process for future beneficiaries of that funding – local non-profit agencies and programs – has also begun.

Non-profit agencies and programs in the Iron Range communities of UWNEMN’s service territory can submit Letters of Intent to apply for UWNEMN funding on the organization’s web site (click here). Letters are due October 9th.

“The reason our staff members are busy speaking with donors across our region right now is so we are able to provide funding to the non-profit agencies working to impact the lives of thousands of people living and working here,” said UWNEMN Executive Director Erin Shay.

Agencies in UWNEMN’s service territory working in one of the organization’s focus areas (Helping Children Succeed, Empowering Healthy Lives, and Stabilizing Families & Individuals) are invited to apply for UWNEMN funding even if they have not applied or received funding in the past.

“We are proud to have supported many amazing non-profit agencies and programs over the years, and we want to be sure anyone doing work in one of our focus areas has a chance to apply for funding,” Shay said.

UWNEMN’s board of directors will review letters, and agencies moving on in the process will be sent full applications by November 1. Full applications are due December 31, and funding will be distributed in 2021.
