REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR UWNEMN FUNDING:

1) Must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit, project with an established 501(c) serving as fiscal agent, or government organization whose program(s) align with UWNEMN priority funding areas: Empowering Healthy Lives, Helping Children Succeed, and Stabilizing Families and Individuals.
2) Must serve people in UWNEMN's service area
3) Organization or program must address a targeted issue in UWNEMN's investment plan
4) Must submit this application in its entirety with all required documents.  
Applications submitted without UWNEMN's budget form will not be considered for 2024 funding. 

2024 UWNEMN FUNDING TIMELINE:

November 10, 2023: Application opens.
January 16, 2024: Applications due. 
Applications submitted after 11:59 p.m. January 16, 2024, will not be considered for 2024 funding.
March 5, 2024: UWNEMN panels interview agencies/UWNEMN Board makes funding determinations.
April 15, 2024: First quarterly distribution of funding.

Please read updated descriptions of UWNEMN's focus areas and targeted issue in our Investment Plan before answering the following questions. 

Targeted Issues
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Increase number of available childcare spots in our region. b. Improve early literacy skills. c. Improve overall academic achievement. d. Improve social and emotional development. e. Ensure children in need of mentoring and tutoring have access to programming. 2. Strategies: a. Support early literacy programming. b. Invest in programs that increase academic success and remove barriers to learning for youth. c. Invest in programs that improve children’s social emotional development and behavior. d. Support new and expanding childcare facilities/providers.
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Ensure youth experiencing a mental health crisis have support and resources. b. Increase number of services to promote mental well-being for youth. c. Reduce number of youth dealing with substance abuse. d. Work towards building a continuum of care for youth and their families. 2. Strategies: a. Invest in programs that provide mental health services to youth. b. Support programs that teach youth healthy living skills and provide resources. c. Invest in programs that focus on prevention and provide substance abuse counseling for youth. d. Invest in programs and services that take a multi-generational approach to building resiliency.
Targeted Issues
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Ensure all citizens can access affordable health care when they need it. b. Ensure uninsured or underinsured people can receive oral health care. c. Ensure resources and support are available for families and individuals dealing with serious illness. 2. Strategies: a. Invest in programming that provides health care services to individuals without insurance or who are underinsured. b. Invest in programming that increases local oral health care options. c. Invest in programs that provide support for individuals and their families dealing with serious illness.
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Ensure seniors who want to live independently are able to do so safely. b. Ensure individuals living in congregate housing have access to resources. 2. Strategies: a. Invest in programming that provides support for and improves the well-being of seniors. b. Invest in supportive services that assist seniors to remain living independently. c. Invest in programming that addresses transportation barriers for seniors. d. Invest in programming that addresses social connectedness for seniors.
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Ensure veterans, service members, and their families have access to support services. b. Ensure stable housing is available for veterans and service members. c. Increase social and educational opportunities to connect with other veterans and service members. 2. Strategies: a. Invest in enhanced coordinated care throughout our region. b. Assist veterans and service members in crisis. c. Invest in programs that will provide secure and safe housing for veterans and service members. d. Support veteran-centered events and activities that increase social connectedness for veterans and service members.
Targeted Issues
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Prevent people in our community from experiencing hunger. 2. Strategies: a. Invest in programs that provide access to food for individuals and families at-risk of being food insecure. b. Support food shelves and hunger-relief programs.

Invest in programs that provide transitional and/or affordable permanent housing and shelter. b. Invest in programs that provide essential household items to families and individuals in transition or crisis. c. Support programs that provide emergency services to people in crisis.
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Ensure communities are focused on prevention and offer educational programs on domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or trafficking. b. Ensure individuals who experiences domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking has access to resources and support. c. Decreased number of people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking. 2. Strategies: a. Support programs that provide education, prevention, supportive services, crisis intervention and/or emergency shelter related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or sexual exploitation/trafficking.
1. Goals and Objectives: a. Ensure individuals have safe and reliable transportation to work in order to maintain employment. b. Ensure individuals have safe and reliable transportation to medical appointments. 2. Strategies: a. Invest in programs that provide transportation to work and/or medical appointments. b. Invest in programs that eliminate barriers to safe and reliable transportation to work and/or medical appointments
