The United Way Forever Fund

Thanks to a bequest from Katherine Ware in 1998, the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota was left the single, largest gift ever received in its history. The Board at that time decided to find a way for her gift to have an impact in this area forever in her memory and the "Forever Fund" endowment was created. The name for the United Way "Forever Fund" was chosen because the endowment will allow an individual to contribute to the United Way in a more permanent fashion.

Join us! April 18th, 2008 - 7th Annual Live and Silent Auction and Dinner at The Lodge at Giants Ridge. This event has been created as a fun and unique way of increasing our "Forever Fund" which reached the million dollar mark two years ago! The evening invites participants to travel to an Island Luau in Hawaii to experience the culture, food along with Polynesian and Hawaiian dancers and unbelievable shopping opportunities!

Our primary goal is to raise enough money so that all of our fundraising and administrative costs will be offset by the endowment. This would be an immediate, direct benefit to the agencies during the annual campaign each year because it would allow 100% of every dollar raised to go back to the agencies intact. All monies contributed to the endowment will remain in the fund in perpetuity. This arrangement will greatly enhance our ability to provide needed funding and effective fundraising to all of our member agancies in the years to come.

The funds are currently being housed with the Minnesota Foundation, whose resources and expertise will ensure that the funds are protected and producing maximum results. Persons interested in learning how to donate to the Forever Fund in a manner which offers continuity, simplicity, perpetuity, security, and tax benefits may contact the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota office for further information.
