President's Corner
A letter from Shelley Robinson Board President
I am looking forward to the annual meeting of the UWNEMN on April 15, when the Board of Directors will establish goals for 2009. As incoming president, my goal will be to encourage all of us to become more active in our participation with the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota.
I know many of you have "given it your all" this past year - whether you called for donations for events, made a donation, sold raffle tickets, contacted potential donors, drove to the cities to pick up items, worked with the youth, or washed dishes - your personal dedication has helped this organization reach out to thousands across the Iron Range. Unfortunately, the economic downturn has created an increased demand from those who rely on agencies funded by the United Way. As demand increases, our efforts must increase as well.
I ask that you challenge yourself - can you do more for the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota? If so, how? Become actively involved! Let 2009 be a year when you
...encouraged your staff/coworkers to donate to a great cause
...helped decorate for an event
...encouraged a business sponsorship
...made phone calls to "make something happen"
...spoke to a group to encourage donations
...helped deliver gifts-in-kind to those in need
...personally made a difference
I ask you to reflect on your involvement as someone who cares about our community. Your participation has contributed to the success of UWNEMN, but we will need YOU to do more in 2009 to meet the increasing needs of our neighbors and friends across the Iron Range. I challenge you to "Live United" with me as we face a challenging year in 2009.
Thank you for caring.
Sincerely,
Shelley Robinson
